Daily English Sentence Corrections – Episode 1 (Beginner to Intermediate)

1. Incorrect Tense Usage
❌ Wrong: I am not understanding.
✔️ Correct: I don’t understand.
Why?
The verb understand describes a mental state.
Mental states use simple present, not present continuous.
More examples:
❌ I am knowing this. → ✔️ I know this.
❌ I am believing you. → ✔️ I believe you.
2. Wrong Helping Verb (Do/Does)
❌ Wrong: She don’t like coffee.
✔️ Correct: She doesn’t like coffee.
Rule:
He / She / It / Singular Noun → doesn't
I / You / We / They → don't
More examples:
✔️ He doesn't speak fast.
✔️ They don’t understand the rule.
3. Double Past Form Mistake
❌ Wrong: I didn’t went to school.
✔️ Correct: I didn’t go to school.
Rule:
After did, always use base form of the verb.

❌ She didn’t came. → ✔️ She didn’t come.
❌ They didn’t ate. → ✔️ They didn’t eat.
4. Preposition Errors
❌ Wrong: We discussed about the plan.
✔️ Correct: We discussed the plan.
Why?
The verb discuss already includes the meaning of "about".
More examples:
❌ I entered into the room. → ✔️ I entered the room.
❌ He explained me the lesson. → ✔️ He explained the lesson to me.
5. Incorrect Self-Introduction
❌ Wrong: Myself Raju.
✔️ Correct: I am Raju.
Why?
“Myself” should be used only for reflexive actions:
✔️ I cooked the food myself.
Correct ways to introduce:
✔️ My name is Raju.
✔️ I am Raju.
✔️ This is Raju.
6. Redundant Expressions
❌ Wrong: Cousin brother / Cousin sister.
✔️ Correct: Cousin.
❌ Wrong: Return back.
✔️ Correct: Return.
❌ Wrong: Repeat again.
✔️ Correct: Repeat.
7. Vocabulary Mistakes (Daily Life)
❌ Wrong: Open the light.
✔️ Correct: Turn on the light.
More corrections:
❌ Off the fan. → ✔️ Turn off the fan.
❌ Height and weight is same. → ✔️ Height and weight are the same.
❌ I am having a pen. → ✔️ I have a pen.
