 7 Advanced Sentence Corrections (Wrong → Correct)

1) “Hardly… when…” (advanced pattern)

❌ തെറ്റ്: Hardly I reached, when it started raining.

✔ ശരി: Hardly had I reached when it started raining.

ഫൊനറ്റിക്സ്: “ഹാർഡ്‌ലി ഹാഡ് ഐ റീച്ഡ് വേൻ ഇറ്റ് സ്റ്റാർട്ടഡ് റെയ്‌നിംഗ്.”

2) “No sooner… than…”

❌ തെറ്റ്: No sooner I saw him, then I smiled.

✔ ശരി: No sooner had I seen him than I smiled.

ഫൊനറ്റിക്സ്: “നോ സൂനർ ഹാഡ് ഐ സീൻ, ദാൻ ഐ സ്മൈൽഡ്.”

3) “If I were…” (imaginary)

❌ തെറ്റ്: If I was you, I would try.

✔ ശരി: If I were you, I would try.

ഫൊനറ്റിക്സ്: “ഇഫ് ഐ വർ യൂ, ഐ വുഡ് ട്രൈ.”

4) “Neither of them…” → Singular verb

❌ തെറ്റ്: Neither of them are ready.

✔ ശരി: Neither of them is ready.

ഫൊനറ്റിക്സ്: “നീദർ ഓഫ് ദെം ഇസ് റെഡി.”

5) “By the time…” + past perfect

❌ തെറ്റ്: By the time he came, I finished.

✔ ശരി: By the time he came, I had finished.

ഫൊനറ്റിക്സ്: “ബൈ ദ ടൈം ഹീ കേം, ഐ ഹാഡ് ഫിനിഷ്ഡ്.”

6) “Hardly anyone…” → Singular

❌ തെറ്റ്: Hardly anyone know this.

✔ ശരി: Hardly anyone knows this.

ഫൊനറ്റിക്സ്: “ഹാർഡ്‌ലി എനിവൺ നോസ് ദിസ്.”

7) “Let alone…” (negative extension)

❌ തെറ്റ്: He cannot walk, forget running.

✔ ശരി: He cannot walk, let alone run.
