Past Continuous Tense-ൽ Positive sentences ശരിയായി എഴുതാൻ കഴിയും
“ഒരു പ്രവർത്തി നടന്നുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നതാണ്” എന്ന ആശയം വ്യക്തമായി മനസ്സിലാകും
was / were + verb + ing ഉപയോഗത്തിൽ confidence ഉണ്ടാകും

Positive Sentence – Structure

Subject + was / were + verb + ing

👉 Past Continuous Positive sentence-ൽ not ഇല്ല, question ഇല്ല 👉 നേരെ സംഭവിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്ന പ്രവർത്തി പറയുകയാണ്

Past Continuous എപ്പോൾ ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നു?

ഭൂതകാലത്തിലെ ഒരു പ്രത്യേക സമയത്ത് പ്രവർത്തി നടന്നുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ
മറ്റൊരു സംഭവം നടക്കുമ്പോൾ ongoing action കാണിക്കാൻ
Background action പറയാൻ

✍️ ഉദാഹരണങ്ങൾ – Everyday Situations

I was studying at 7 PM.
👉 രാത്രി 7 മണിക്ക് ഞാൻ പഠിച്ചു കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു
She was cooking in the kitchen.
👉 അവൾ അടുക്കളയിൽ പാചകം ചെയ്തു കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു
They were watching a movie.
👉 അവർ സിനിമ കാണുകയായിരുന്നു
We were waiting for the bus.
👉 ഞങ്ങൾ ബസിന് കാത്തുനിന്നിരുന്നു

Time Expressions – Very Common

at that time
at 6 PM
yesterday evening
last night
while + another action

Example:
I was reading a book yesterday night.

Two Actions – Background & Main Action

Past Continuous പലപ്പോഴും Simple Past-നൊപ്പം ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നു:

I was sleeping when the phone rang.
👉 ഫോൺ മുഴങ്ങിയപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ ഉറങ്ങിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു
She was walking when it started raining.
👉 മഴ തുടങ്ങുമ്പോൾ അവൾ നടക്കുകയായിരുന്നു
We were discussing while the teacher entered.
👉 ടീച്ചർ അകത്തു വന്നപ്പോൾ ഞങ്ങൾ ചര്‍ച്ച ചെയ്യുകയായിരുന്നു

Common Mistakes (Avoid These)

✅ I was reading a book.
❌ She were cooking food.
