Intraday Options Trading with Gann & Opening Range
A Practical Guide for Consistent Trading
Introduction
Intraday trading in NIFTY & BANKNIFTY options is fast and emotional. Most traders lose money due to lack of discipline and structure.
Goal: Don’t predict the market. React professionally.
Market Structure
- Trend Day: Strong one-direction movement
- Trap Day: Fake breakouts, sideways movement
Rule: If market confuses you → DO NOT TRADE
๐ Opening Range Strategy
Time: 9:15 – 9:30 AM
- Opening Range High (ORH)
- Opening Range Low (ORL)
Correct Method:
- Breakout → Wait → Pullback → Entry
Example (Buy Trade)
- Break OR High
- Pullback to ORH
- Bullish candle
- Volume increase
Entry: Next candle high
Stop Loss: Below ORH
๐ Gann Angles
- 1x1 (45°) = Main trend
- Above angle = Bullish
- Below angle = Bearish
- Break = Trend change
Timeframe Use:
- 1H → Direction
- 15m → Setup
- 3m → Entry
๐ Gann + Opening Range Combo
- Opening Range Breakout
- Pullback to level
- Gann support/resistance
- VWAP alignment
- Volume confirmation
Trade only when all conditions match.
๐ VWAP & Volume
- Above VWAP → Bullish
- Below VWAP → Bearish
- Near VWAP → Avoid
- High volume → Real move
- Low volume → Fake move
Rule: Price + Volume + VWAP = Valid Trade
Common Mistakes
- Late entry (chasing)
- No Stop Loss
- Flip trading (CE ↔ PE)
- Trading in chop zone
- Overtrading
๐ Risk Management
- Risk only 1% per trade
- Always place Stop Loss
- 1:1 → Move SL to cost
- Minimum RR = 1:2
- First SL = Stop trading
No SL = No Trading
๐ง Trading Psychology
- Excitement → Late entry
- Fear → Early exit
- Frustration → Flip trading
Mindset: I wait for my setup.
๐ Final Checklist
- Trend or Trap?
- At key level?
- VWAP aligned?
- Volume strong?
- Confirmation candle?
If ANY answer is NO → WAIT
Conclusion
Trading success comes from discipline, not prediction.
Good traders make money on trend days.
