PART A — 8 Advanced Corrections (Speech-focused)
ಪ್ರತಿ ಐಟಂ: ❌ ತಪ್ಪು → ✅ ಸರಿಪಡಿಸಿದ ವಾಕ್ಯ → ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿವರಣೆ → ಉಚ್ಛಾರಣೆ (Roman Kannada)
❌ Wrong: I am having many doubts.
✅ Correct: I have many doubts.
ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಿ: "have" ಧೃಡತೆಯ ಸೂಚಕವಾದಿದ್ದರಿಂದ continuous ರೂಪದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಬಳಸವೆನ್ಬದು.
Pronunciation (Roman Kannada): “I have many doubts.”
❌ Wrong: He asked me that I should help him.
✅ Correct: He asked me to help him.
ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಿ: "ask" ನಂತರ person + to-infinitive ಎಂಬ ರೀತಿ ಸರಿಹೊಂದುತ್ತದೆ; "that" ಅನಾವಶ್ಯಕ.
Pronunciation (Roman Kannada): “He asked me to help him.”
❌ Wrong: She insisted me to stay.
✅ Correct: She insisted that I stay. / She insisted on my staying.
ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಿ: "insist" ನಂತರ that-clause ಅಥವಾ on + gerund ಆಗಿರಬೇಕು; "insist me to" ತಪ್ಪು.
Pronunciation (Roman Kannada): “She insisted that I stay.”
❌ Wrong: I didn’t wrote the answer.
✅ Correct: I didn’t write the answer.
ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಿ: did/didn't ನಂತರ base form (write) ಅನ್ನು ಬಳಸಬೇಕು — past form (wrote) ಅಲ್ಲ.
Pronunciation (Roman Kannada): “I didn’t write the answer.”
❌ Wrong: This book is more better than that.
✅ Correct: This book is better than that.
ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಿ: "better" ಈಗಾಗಲೇ comparative, "more" ಸೇರಿಸುವುದು ಅತಿರೇಕ.

ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಿ: "explain" ಗೆ ತಲುಪುವ ರೀತಿ: explain + object + to + person — person ನೇರವಾಗಿ object ಆಗಿಲ್ಲ.
Pronunciation (Roman Kannada): “He explained the process to me.”
❌ Wrong: She nearly finished the work. (intended: almost)
✅ Correct: She almost finished the work. / She nearly finished it — note nuance.

Pronunciation (Roman Kannada): “She almost finished the work.”
PART B — Phonetics Part-3 (Advanced): Intonation, Linking, Weak Forms, Reductions
1) Intonation — Rising vs Falling
Yes/No ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ↑ (rising) pitch; statements ಮತ್ತು Wh-ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ↓ (falling) pitch. ಸಮಾಸ್ಯಾ ಸೂಚನೆ ಮೆಚ್ಚಿಸಲು ಇವು ಸಹಾಯಕ.
Practice (Roman Kannada): “Are you coming?” → “Are you coming?” (rise) ; “I am coming.” (fall)
2) Linking & Reductions
ಪದಗಳ ಬದಿಯಲ್ಲಿರು ಳುವಂತೆ ಸೌಂಡ್ಸ್ ಅನ್ನು link ಮಾಡುವುದರಿಂದ ಮಾತನಾಡುವ flow ಸುಗಮವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ: “go on” → “go-on”; “what are you” → “whatcha”.
Practice (Roman Kannada): “What are you doing?” → “Whatcha doing?”
3) Weak Forms — Fast speech tools
Function words ಕಡಿಮೆ ಶಕ್ತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬರುತ್ತವೆ: to → /tə/ ; have → /əv/ ; and → /ən/ . ಈ ಸಾರಿಯನ್ನು ಅಭ್ಯಾಸಿಸುವುದು ಅತ್ಯಾವಶ್ಯಕ.
Example (Roman Kannada): “I want to go” → “I wanna go”.
4) Stress & Meaning — Meaning shift with stress
Stress ಬದಲಾವಣೆಯಿಂದ ಪದ의 ವರ್ಗ ಬದಲಾಯಬಹುದು: REcord (noun) vs reCORD (verb). ಸಂವಾದದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಸ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ಮೇಲೆ stress ಹಾಕುವುದು ರೂಪಕೊಡುತ್ತದೆ.
Practice (Roman Kannada): Repeat pairs: REcord ↔ reCORD, PREsent ↔ preSENT.
5) Final consonant clarity & devoicing
Kannada speakers ಕೂಡ ಕಂನೆಲ್ನಿಂದ final voiced consonants ಅನ್ನು devoiced ಮಾಡಬಾರದು — bad vs bat ತೀರ್ಮಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಗಮನಿಸಿ.
Practice (Roman Kannada): bad /bæd/ — hold the 'd' sound; bag /bæg/ vs back /bæk/.
6) Connected Speech Drill (3-step)
- Slow read — mark linking points
- Medium speed — apply weak forms
- Natural speed — record & evaluate
Practice sentence (Roman Kannada): “I have to ask him about the plan.” Step1: I / have / to / ask / him / about / the / plan Step2: I have tuh ask-him about-thuh plan Step3: I’və tuh askɪm əbout thə plan
