7 Must-Know Rules (Wrong → Correct)
1) “Prefer *to* …” — not “Prefer *than* …”
❌ Wrong: I prefer tea than coffee.
✔ Correct: I prefer tea to coffee.
Phonetics (slow blocks): I-prefer-tea / to-cof-fee
Rule: “Prefer” always takes “to”.
2) After “didn’t”, use base verb (V1)
❌ Wrong: I didn’t understood the lesson.
✔ Correct: I didn’t understand the lesson.
Phonetics: I-didn’t-un-der-stand-the-les-son
3) “Used to …” for past habits
❌ Wrong: I am used to go to that school.
✔ Correct: I used to go to that school.
Phonetics: I-used-to-go-to-that-school
4) “Despite …” does NOT take “of”
❌ Wrong: Despite of he was tired, he worked.
✔ Correct: Despite being tired, he worked.
✔ Despite his tiredness, he worked.
Phonetics: des-PITE-being-tired / he-worked
5) “Let me know …” (natural, formal)
❌ Wrong: Inform me if any updates.
✔ Correct: Let me know if there are any updates.
Phonetics: let-me-know / if-there-are-any-up-dates
6) “Supposed to …” (not “suppose to”)
❌ Wrong: You are suppose to submit today.
✔ Correct: You are supposed to submit today.
Phonetics: suh-POSED-to-sub-MIT-to-day
7) “Neither … nor …” (two negatives together)
❌ Wrong: I don’t like tea nor coffee.
✔ Correct: I like neither tea nor coffee.
Phonetics: nei-ther-tea-nor-cof-fee

1) Slow-Mouth Technique (break into blocks)
Example: “I prefer tea to coffee.”
Blocks: I-prefer-tea / to-cof-fee
2) Vowel stretching (lengthen the sound)
Example: “prefer” → pre-FER (stress on second part)
3) Word stress (highlight the strong syllable)
Examples: re-LAX, re-PORT, to-MOR-row
4) Silent letters
- know → no
- wrong → rong
- listen → lis-en
- castle → cas-l
5) Practical Pronunciation Samples
