 7 Advanced Sentence Corrections (Wrong → Correct)

1) “Hardly… when…” (Advanced inversion)

❌ தவறு: Hardly I reached, when it started raining.

✔ சரி: Hardly had I reached when it started raining.

உச்சரிப்பு: “ஹார்ட்லி ஹாட் ஐ ரீச்ச்ட் வென் இட் ஸ்டார்டெட் ரெய்னிங்.”

2) “No sooner… than…” (Formal English)

❌ தவறு: No sooner I saw him, then I smiled.

✔ சரி: No sooner had I seen him than I smiled.

உச்சரிப்பு: “நோ சூன்ர் ஹாட் ஐ ஸீன் தேன் ஐ ஸ்மைல்ட்.”

3) “If I were…” (imaginary)

❌ தவறு: If I was you, I would try.

✔ சரி: If I were you, I would try.

உச்சரிப்பு: “இஃப் ஐ வெர் யூ, ஐ வுட் ட்ராய்.”

4) “Neither of them…” → Singular

❌ தவறு: Neither of them are ready.

✔ சரி: Neither of them is ready.

உச்சரிப்பு: “நீதர் ஆஃப் தம் இஸ் ரெடி.”

5) “By the time…” + past perfect

❌ தவறு: By the time he came, I finished.

✔ சரி: By the time he came, I had finished.

உச்சரிப்பு: “பை த டைம் ஹீ கேம், ஐ ஹாட் ஃபினிஷ்டு.”

6) “Hardly anyone…” → Singular verb

❌ தவறு: Hardly anyone know this.

✔ சரி: Hardly anyone knows this.

உச்சரிப்பு: “ஹார்ட்லி எனிவன் நோஸ் திஸ்.”

7) “Let alone…” (negative extension)

❌ தவறு: He cannot walk, forget running.

✔ சரி: He cannot walk, let alone run.

உச்சரிப்பு: “ஹீ கானாட் வாக், லெட் அலோன் ரன்.”
