Quick Revision (Day 1 – Day 3)
Before moving ahead, let us briefly recall what we have learned so far in Simple Present Tense:
- Day 1: Simple Present → habits, facts, general truths
- Day 2: Positive sentences → verb changes (s / es)
- Day 3: Negative sentences → do not / does not
👉 Now in Day 4, we will learn:
❓ How to ask questions correctly
❓ What is an Interrogative Sentence?
A sentence that is used to ask a question, to get information, or to confirm something is called an Interrogative Sentence.
Example:
- You work here. ❌ (Statement)
- Do you work here? ✅ (Question)
Golden Rule (Never Forget This)
Simple Present Question = Do / Does + Subject + Base Verb + ?
👉 Most learners make mistakes exactly at this point.
How to Choose: Do or Does?
✔ Use Do with these subjects
- I
- You
- We
- They
✔ Use Does with these subjects
- He
- She
- It
👉 If you identify the subject correctly, half the grammar is done.
✍️ Sentence Structure (Very Important)
Do / Does + Subject + Verb (base form) + ?
⚠️ In questions, the verb never takes s / es.
Because does already carries the subject power.
Examples — Observe Carefully
I / You / We / They
- You like coffee.
Do you like coffee? - They play cricket.
Do they play cricket?
He / She / It
- He works here.
Does he work here? - She teaches English.
Does she teach English?
Common Spoken Mistakes (Very Important)
- ❌ Does he works daily?
✅ Does he work daily? - ❌ Do she know English?

- No, I don’t.

Gentle Reminder
Grammar is not about memorizing rules —

turns English from fear into strength.
