Past Continuous Tense का मूल ढाँचा

Subject + was / were + Verb + ing

👉 यह structure हर sentence में follow करना अनिवार्य है 👉 tense पहचानने की सबसे आसान पहचान — was / were + ing

🔹 Helping Verbs: was / were

Past Continuous में केवल दो helping verbs होते हैं:

was
were

He / She / It	was
You / We / They	were

✍️ Verb + ing कैसे बनता है?

अधिकतर verbs में:

verb + ing जोड़ते हैं

read → reading
play → playing
watch → watching
study → studying

कुछ special rules:

make → making (e हट जाता है)
write → writing
run → running (double consonant)

I was reading a book.
She was cooking food.
He was driving a car.
We were discussing the issue.
They were playing outside.

👉 सभी sentences में was / were + ing स्पष्ट दिख रहा है

समय बताने वाले शब्द

Past Continuous अक्सर इन time expressions के साथ आता है:

at that time
at 6 PM
when
while

I was studying at 9 PM.
She was sleeping when I called.
They were talking while the teacher entered.

सामान्य गलतियाँ (बहुत ध्यान दें)

❌ I was ~~read~~ a book.
✅ I was reading a book.
❌ They ~~was~~ playing.
✅ They were playing.
❌ She was ~~cook~~ food.
✅ She was cooking food.
❌ We were ~~watch~~ TV.
✅ We were watching TV.

I (write) a letter.
They (play) chess.
She (clean) the room.
We (wait) for the train.
