English Sentence Corrections Episode 2 – English to Hindi Explanation

Introduction

Most English learners make very small but important mistakes in everyday speaking. These mistakes change the meaning or make the sentence sound unnatural. In this lesson, we correct the most common errors. Each example includes English correction, Hindi meaning, and pronunciation.


1. I didn’t go to school yesterday.

Incorrect: I didn’t went to school yesterday.
Correct: I didn’t go to school yesterday.

✔ Explanation

After “didn’t”, always use the base verb (go, come, eat). Never use “went / ate / came” after “didn’t”.

✔ Hindi Meaning

मैं कल स्कूल नहीं गया/गई।

Pronunciation: main kal school nahin gaya/gayi.


2. She has finished her homework.

Incorrect: She finished her homework now.
Correct: She has finished her homework.

✔ Explanation

Use present perfect (has/have + V3) when something is completed recently and its result is important right now.

✔ Hindi Meaning

उसने अपना होमवर्क पूरा कर लिया है।

Pronunciation: usne apna homework poora kar liya hai.


3. They are playing outside now.

Incorrect: They play outside now.
Correct: They are playing outside now.

✔ Explanation

For actions happening at this moment, use “am/is/are + verb-ing”.

✔ Hindi Meaning

वे अभी बाहर खेल रहे हैं।

Pronunciation: ve abhi baahar khel rahe hain.


4. I have been studying for two hours.

Incorrect: I am studying for two hours.
Correct: I have been studying for two hours.

✔ Explanation

Use present perfect continuous (have/has been + verb-ing) for actions started in the past and still continuing.

✔ Hindi Meaning

मैं दो घंटे से पढ़ रहा/रही हूँ।

Pronunciation: main do ghante se padh raha/rahi hoon.


5. He will meet you tomorrow.

Incorrect: He meet you tomorrow.
Correct: He will meet you tomorrow.

✔ Explanation

Use “will” for future actions, plans, or decisions.

✔ Hindi Meaning

वह तुमसे कल मिलेगा।

Pronunciation: vah tumse kal milega.


 Additional Learning Notes (English + Hindi)

1. Use of DIDN’T

Rule: After “didn’t”, always use base verb.
Examples: didn’t go, didn’t eat, didn’t speak.

Hindi: “didn’t” के बाद क्रिया हमेशा first form में होती है।

2. Use of HAS/HAVE + V3

Used for recently completed actions with present effect.
Words like: now, just, already.

Hindi: हाल ही में पूरा किए गये कामों के लिए।

3. Use of AM/IS/ARE + V-ing

Used for actions happening right now.

Hindi: जो काम अभी हो रहा है।

4. Use of WILL for Future

Used for plans, promises, predictions.

L Sound: tongue touches upper teeth lightly.
Words: light, like, look

R Sound: tongue doesn’t touch teeth; small gap is needed.

Hindi Explanation:

“L” में जीभ आगे दाँतों को छूती है। “R” में जीभ दाँतों को नहीं छूती — थोड़ा ऊपर रहती है। इससे English “R” साफ़ सुनाई देता है।
