Daily English Sentence Corrections – Episode 4 (English)

                                                     



Welcome to Episode 4 of the Shaktimatha 369 English Learning Series.
Today we continue learning common English mistakes, their corrections, rules, and easy examples.


1. Incorrect Use of "Too"

❌ Wrong: This coffee is very too hot.
✔️ Correct: This coffee is too hot.

Rule: “Too” already means "excessively" → don’t use “very” before it.

More examples:
✔️ The bag is too heavy.
✔️ The movie was too boring.
✔️ This road is too narrow.


2. “Very” vs “Much”

❌ Wrong: I am very tired very much.
✔️ Correct: I am very tired.

Rule: Use “very” with adjectives (tired, happy, angry). Use “much” with verbs or comparative forms.

Correct examples:
✔️ She talks too much.
✔️ I don’t like it very much.
✔️ He is much better now.


3. Using "Since" & "For"

❌ Wrong: I am waiting since two hours.
✔️ Correct: I have been waiting for two hours.

Rule:
Since → starting point (2010, morning, Monday)
For → duration (2 days, 3 weeks, 10 minutes)

More examples:
✔️ She has lived here since 2015.
✔️ They have been friends for 10 years.
✔️ I have been studying for two hours.


4. Wrong Plural Usage

❌ Wrong: These informations are useful.
✔️ Correct: This information is useful.

Some nouns are always singular (uncountable nouns):

Information • Advice • Furniture • Luggage • Equipment

Correct examples:
✔️ She gave me good advice.
✔️ The furniture is expensive.
✔️ This equipment is new.


5. Incorrect Comparatives

❌ Wrong: She is more taller than me.
✔️ Correct: She is taller than me.

Rule: Don’t use “more” with words that already have –er form.

More examples:
❌ more shorter → ✔️ shorter
❌ more bigger → ✔️ bigger
❌ more easier → ✔️ easier


6. “Do” vs “Make” Confusion

Common wrong: ❌ I need to do a decision.

Correct:
✔️ I need to make a decision.

Rule:

Use do for tasks/work.
Use make for creating something.

Examples:
✔️ do homework
✔️ do the dishes
✔️ make a plan
✔️ make a mistake
✔️ make a phone call


7. Wrong Question Formation

❌ Wrong: What you are doing?
✔️ Correct: What are you doing?

Rule: Questions follow helping verb + subject + verb.

More examples:
❌ Where you are going? → ✔️ Where are you going?
❌ Why you are sad? → ✔️ Why are you sad?
❌ When you will come? → ✔️ When will you come?


8. Daily Life Quick Corrections

✔️ I will message you later.
✔️ Don’t disturb me, please.
✔️ I don’t have enough time.
✔️ He is getting ready.
✔️ Let’s go together.
✔️ It is raining heavily.
✔️ Please speak slowly.

/f/ sound: air passes through lips & teeth
Examples → fan, fast, feel, coffee

/p/ sound: air bursts from lips
Examples → pen, paper, push, happen

Common mistake:
❌ “I want to go to the parmer.” → ✔️ “farmer” (/f/)
