Core Structure (Full Control)

Subject + was / were + verb + ing

👉 ఇది Past Continuous Tense యొక్క backbone 👉 Verb ఎప్పుడూ ING form లోనే ఉండాలి 👉 Helping verb subject ఆధారంగా మారుతుంది

⏰ Time Expressions in Past Continuous

Past Continuous ఎక్కువగా ఈ time words తో వస్తుంది:

at that time
at 7 PM / at 10 AM
when
while
all day / all night

✍️ Examples with Time Expressions

I was studying at 9 PM.
👉 9 PM సమయంలో చదువుతున్నాను
She was sleeping at that time.
They were working all day.
I was watching TV when he called me.

🔄 WHEN + Simple Past + Past Continuous

చాలా ముఖ్యమైన pattern:

Past Continuous + when + Simple Past

I was reading when he came.
She was cooking when the phone rang.
We were sleeping when it started raining.

👉 Long action = Past Continuous 👉 Short interrupting action = Simple Past

🔁 WHILE + Two Past Continuous Actions

Past Continuous + while + Past Continuous

I was writing while she was reading.
They were playing while we were watching.
Mother was cooking while father was resting.
