Day 1 to Day 6 – Step-by-Step Error Correction Practice

📘 Day 1 – Basic Sentence Corrections

Rule:

Subject + was / were + verb + ing

❌ I was ~~play~~ cricket.
✅ I was playing cricket.
❌ She were reading a book.
✅ She was reading a book.
❌ They was watching TV.
✅ They were watching TV.
❌ He was write a letter.
✅ He was writing a letter.

👉 Focus: correct helping verb + verb ending (-ing)

Day 2 – Negative Sentence Corrections

Negative Structure:

Subject + was / were + not + verb + ing

❌ I was not ~~watch~~ TV.
✅ I was not watching TV.
❌ She were not sleeping.
✅ She was not sleeping.
❌ They was not working.
✅ They were not working.
❌ He was not do homework.
✅ He was not doing homework.

👉 Focus: “not” comes after was/were

Day 3 – Yes / No Question Corrections

Question Structure:

Was / Were + subject + verb + ing ?

❌ Was you sleeping?
✅ Were you sleeping?
❌ Were she cooking?
✅ Was she cooking?
❌ Was they playing football?
✅ Were they playing football?
❌ Were he watching TV?
✅ Was he watching TV?

👉 Focus: correct was/were before subject

Day 4 – WH Question Corrections

WH Question Structure:

WH-word + was / were + subject + verb + ing ?

❌ What she was doing?
✅ What was she doing?
❌ Where they were going?
✅ Where were they going?
❌ Why he was crying?
✅ Why was he crying?
❌ How you were studying?
✅ How were you studying?

👉 Focus: word order after WH-word

Day 5 – Mixed Error Corrections

❌ I was sleeping when the alarm ~~was ringing~~.
✅ I was sleeping when the alarm rang.
❌ She cooked when I was arriving.
✅ She was cooking when I arrived.
❌ They were played cricket yesterday evening.
✅ They were playing cricket yesterday evening.
❌ He watched TV when power was going.
✅ He was watching TV when power went.

👉 Focus: long action = past continuous, short action = simple past

Day 6 – Sentence Transformation Practice

Base Sentence: She was reading a book.

Negative: She was not reading a book.
Yes/No Question: Was she reading a book?
WH Question: What was she reading?

Base Sentence: They were playing outside.

Negative: They were not playing outside.
Yes/No Question: Were they playing outside?
WH Question: Where were they playing?

👉 Focus: full control over sentence forms

Final Note
