• Understand why was / were are used

Subject + was / were + Verb + ing

👉 This structure never changes in Past Continuous Tense.

✍️ Verb + ING Formation Rules

To form verb + ing, follow these simple rules:

• Normal verbs: add ing
  play → playing | read → reading
• Verb ending with “e”: remove e + ing
  write → writing | make → making
• Short verb (CVC pattern): double last consonant + ing
  run → running | sit → sitting
